No questions. Figure everything out on your own. Seriously. This is harsh, but very important. This made me and will make you incredibly resourceful.
Work drinks every single night. In fact, I often ended up double booking because drinks would cancel regularly. I met with assistants of agents, managers, directors, actors, anyone I was corresponding with. I went to work drinks 3-5 times a week. If I couldn’t afford it, I ordered club soda or found places with great specials.
Smile. I seldom gave attitude, no matter how much I wanted to, which was a lot.
Figure out who your boss is. What do they want? What are their goals? Which projects are their priorities? This will help you determine how to help assist them beyond the administrative duties. It will also help you to start thinking like a producer.
Learn the language. The language of the entertainment industry. I studied agent names on flashcards, read the trades everyday, read deal memos and contracts that came in for signature and generally, learned the ecosystem of the industry.
